Co-Founder and Partner of Mattson Financial Services
Brent grew up in Waco and graduated from Richfield High School before earning his BBA from the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University in 1984. Just two years later, with only a $1,000 loan from a local bank, he set out to build what would become Mattson Financial Services. Initially, Brent partnered with his brother Brian, and together they made an immediate impact in the local Waco financial services marketplace.
Over the past 40 years, Brent has helped grow the firm into a nationally recognized leader in sales and service, earning more than 30 national awards along the way. For more than 40 years, Brent and his brothers—Brian and Blake, who joined the firm in 1994—have guided thousands of clients all across Texas.
Beyond the business, Brent is a passionate advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. He and his brothers were blessed with a younger sister, “Little” Shanna, who was born with Down syndrome and brought joy to their family until her passing in 2021 after a battle with dementia. To honor her memory, Brent and his wife, Cindy, continue to support local nonprofits that serve children with similar challenges.
